Întâlnire diplomatică româno-turcă, la Casa Olimpică
La Casa Olimpică din București a avut loc astăzi un dialog diplomatic româno-turc între președintele Comitetului Olimpic și Sportiv Român Mihai Covaliu, Excelența Sa Ambasadorul Turciei în România Özgür Kıvanç Altan și Secretarul III al Ambasadei Buğra Derinyar. Subiectul central al întâlnirii a fost legat de Jocurile Europene (JE) Istanbul 2027 - competiție aflată sub egida Asociației Comitetelor Olimpice Europene, care va avea rol de calificare pentru Jocurile Olimpice Los Angeles 2028.
Evenimentul de la Istanbul marchează o etapă importantă în calendarul sportiv european, iar Mihai Covaliu, desemnat președintele Comitetului de Coordonare pentru JE Istanbul 2027, își exprimă deschiderea pentru o colaborare strânsă cu partea turcă, în sprijinul unei organizări de succes.
În cadrul discuției, Ambasadorul Turciei a evidențiat angajamentul autorităților turce pentru desfășurarea Jocurilor Europene la cele mai înalte standarde, iar Mihai Covaliu a reiterat sprijinul COSR pentru consolidarea relațiilor bilaterale în plan sportiv.
„Jocurile Europene Istanbul 2027 vor fi un moment-cheie pentru sportul continental, atât prin oportunitățile de calificare la Jocurile Olimpice de la Los Angeles, cât și prin mesajul de unitate pe care îl transmit. România este pregătită să contribuie activ la succesul acestui proiect”, a declarat Mihai Covaliu.
Cele două părți au convenit ca, după Festivalul Olimpic al Tineretului European Skopje 2025, să fie stabilită o întâlnire cu Ahmet Gülüm, noul președinte al Comitetului Olimpic din Turcia.
Întâlnirea s-a încheiat cu angajamentul ambelor părți de a continua dialogul și de a identifica noi inițiative comune care să sprijine sportul de performanță și valorile olimpice.
Romanian-Turkish Diplomatic Meeting at the Olympic House
A Romanian-Turkish diplomatic dialogue took place at the Olympic House in Bucharest between Mihai Covaliu, President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, His Excellency Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Ambassador of Turkey to Romania, and Buğra Derinyar, Third Secretary of the Embassy.
The central topic of the meeting were the European Games (EG) Istanbul 2027 — a competition under the aegis of the European Olympic Committees Association, which will serve as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The event in Istanbul marks an important milestone in the European sports calendar, and Mihai Covaliu, appointed President of the Coordination Committee for EG Istanbul 2027, expressed openness to close cooperation with the Turkish side in support of a successful organization.
During the discussion, the Turkish Ambassador emphasized the commitment of the Turkish authorities to hold the European Games to the highest standards, and Mihai Covaliu reiterated the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee’s support for strengthening bilateral sports relations.
“The European Games Istanbul 2027 will be a key moment for continental sport, both through the Olympic qualification opportunities for Los Angeles and the message of unity they convey. Romania is ready to actively contribute to the success of this project,” said Mihai Covaliu.
Both parties agreed that after the European Youth Olympic Festival Skopje 2025, a meeting will be arranged with Ahmet Gülüm, the new President of the Turkish Olympic Committee.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to continue dialogue and identify new joint initiatives to support high-performance sport and Olympic values.
