La Istanbul, în ultima zi a Adunării Generale a Asociației Comitetelor Olimpice Europene (EOC) deschisă de Thomas Bach, președinte CIO, s-a hotărât ca a 53-a Sesiune a Adunării Generale EOC să se desfășoare, între 6-7 iunie 2024, la București.
Comitetul Olimpic și Sportiv Român și-a prezentat suportul și intenția pentru organizarea Sesiunii de anul viitor, iar președintele EOC Spyros Capralos a anunțat că București va fi orașul care va reuni Mișcarea Olimpică Europeană cu mai puțin de două luni înaintea Jocurilor Olimpice de la Paris.
Evenimentul, la care va fi prezent și președintele CIO Thomas Bach, se va desfășura la Palatul Parlamentului și Hotel Marriott.
Președintele COSR Mihai Covaliu și secretarul general al COSR George Boroi au mulțumit reprezentanților EOC pentru încredere și consideră că această organizare reprezintă recunoașterea rolului activ al COSR în dezvoltarea și promovarea olimpismului și a valorilor olimpice.
La cea de a 52-a Sesiune a Adunari Generale a EOC, găzduită de Istanbul, Comitetul Olimpic și Sportiv Român a fost reprezentat de secretarul general al COSR George Boroi și secretarul general adjunct al COSR Florin Mișcă în timp ce președintele Mihai Covaliu a participat în calitatea de membru al Comitetului Executiv EOC.
Președintele EOC Spyros Capralos, care a deschis a 52-a Sesiune, a accentuat sprijinul pe care forul olimpic european îl oferă sporivilor. ” Prima noastră prioritate este întotdeauna să ne servim sportivii și cred că putem fi mândri de felul în care am făcut asta împreună. Acest lucru a fost realizat cu asistența atât a federațiilor sportive europene, cât și, în unele cazuri, a Federațiilor Sportive Internaționale și, desigur, a Comitetelor Olimpice din Europa. Am îmbunătățit imaginea EOC și a evenimentelor noastre și am realizat toate acestea în limitele stricte de buget”.
Pe ordinea de zi a Aduării Generale EOC de la Istanbul au fost o serie de rapoarte ale activitățiilor desfășurate în cursul anului trecut, în domenii cheie.
Au fost citite rapoartele finale privind Festivalurile Olimpice ale Tineretului European (FOTE) de iarnă și vară din 2023 care evidențiază succesul ambelor Festivaluri, precum și raportul privind progresele realizate de gazdele FOTE programat a avea loc în 2025 la Bakuriani, Georgia și Skopje, Macedonia de Nord. Comitetul de Organizare al Jocurilor Olimpice de iarnă Milano Cortina 2026 a prezentat cele mai recente planuri delegației.

Bucharest designated as Host City for the 2024 EOC General Assembly
In Istanbul, on the final day of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) General Assembly opened by Thomas Bach, President of the IOC, it was decided that the 53rd Session of the EOC General Assembly will take place in Bucharest on June 6-7, 2024.
The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee presented its support and intention to host the Session next year, and EOC President Spyros Capralos announced that Bucharest will be the city to bring together the European Olympic Movement less than two months before the Paris Olympics. The event, which will be attended by IOC President Thomas Bach, will be held at the Palace of Parliament and the Marriott Hotel.
The President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Mihai Covaliu, and the Secretary-General of the Committee, George Boroi, expressed their gratitude to the EOC representatives for their trust and considered this organization as recognition of the active role of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee in the development and promotion of Olympism and Olympic values.
At the 52nd Session of the EOC General Assembly, hosted in Istanbul, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee was represented by its Secretary-General, George Boroi, and Deputy Secretary-General, Florin Mișcă, while President Mihai Covaliu participated as a member of the EOC Executive Committee.
EOC President Spyros Capralos, who opened the 52nd Session, emphasized the support that the European Olympic body provides to athletes. "Our first priority is always to serve our athletes, and I believe we can be proud of how we have done this together. This has been achieved with the assistance of both European sports federations and, in some cases, International Sports Federations, and of course, the European National Olympic Committees. We have improved the image of the EOC and our events, and we have done all of this within strict budgetary limits."
On the agenda of the EOC General Assembly in Istanbul were several reports on activities conducted over the past year in key areas. Final reports on the European Youth Olympic Festivals (EYOF) for winter and summer in 2023 highlighted the success of both Festivals, as well as a report on the progress made by the hosts of the EYOF scheduled for 2025 in Bakuriani, Georgia, and Skopje, North Macedonia. The Organizing Committee of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics presented the latest plans of the delegation.
